DMT_Logo_WHTBGDirector/Producer/DP extraordinaire Vincent Laforet is hitting the road in rock star fashion with a workshop and seminar that looks to be mind blowing.  I think most of us remember Vincent’s critical testing and early work with the Canon 5D as the DSLR video revolution was happening around us.  I’m a big fan and can’t wait to see what he’s cooking up – check out the trailer for a glimpse:

A can’t miss event for filmmakers, DPs, and directors.  The Portland stop is June 3rd – enter the code DMTVFXP when signing up for a cool $10 VFX/PDX discount.

For more info and to pick up tickets, head on over to http://directingmotion.mzed.com/

If you see the price and are on the fence – remember this is a one of a kind, one time only workshop that is meant to be consumed hands on.  Have a look at this link and watch yet another video (below) and see if you can still justify resistance!  See you there.  🙂

VFX/PDX’ers – I’m excited to pass along an invite from Clackamas Community College to come out and get a firsthand look at their shiny new motion capture system and classes offered on the tech.  This event marks the end of a successful run of first classes run in conjunction with neighboring Oregon City game studio SuperGenius.

Saturday, May 3 @ 6 pm
Gregory Forum
Clackamas Community College
Oregon City Campus
address:
19600 Molalla Ave
Oregon City, OR 97045
Join us for a celebratory evening showcasing the college’s renewed vision for
CCC TV and
the Digital Multimedia Communications (DMC) program’s
MOCAP (Motion Capture) system.
This new vision for CCC TV will provide the college’s DMC students an opportunity to showcase their work on the college’s cable access channel. In turn, the content developed by DMC instructors and students will enhance CCC TV’s program offerings.
This project will also provide students and faculty an opportunity to develop higher quality content material for CCC TV and other related media platforms. These platforms will help the college better inform and educate the public on a variety of programs and services. It will also provide access to top notch workforce talent for Clackamas County’s growing film and media industry partners.
This revitalization of CCC TV received generous support from the Clackamas County Cable Division and the Clackamas County Business and Economic Development Team.
Hearty appetizers and beverages will be provided.
Please drop a quick RSVP to this address if you plan to attend.

AEPDX presents The Burst!

Another great event from the ADPDX brain trust, pushing some collaboration unlike anything we’ve seen in a while.  It’s The Burst!
 theburst
The Burst is a rather unique spin the bottle between Portland’s top Illustrators and Motion Designers. We’re giving teams an entire week to collaborate and show Portland what they are made of. Each randomly paired up team (1 Illustrator and 1 Motion Designer) has exactly 1 week to put their heads together to design and animate a 15-30 second masterpiece.
We’ll give them the theme, and then cut them loose. After a week we get together and throw a big party in their honor, have some drinks, and show everybody their creations.
There will, of course, be prizes.
1st: Adobe CC 1 Year
2nd: Wacom Intuos Pro Small
3rd: Red Giant Magic Bullet Looks 2.5

The Burst party and screening is on the evening of Thursday, April 24th.
Time: 6:30 – 9PM
Place: 52LTD (http://52ltd.com/location/portland/)
Grab your tickets here! (http://theburst.eventbrite.com/)
Brought to you by Adobe, AEPDX, 52LTD, Wacom, Red Giant, 3DV
