{"id":852,"date":"2013-01-28T22:06:48","date_gmt":"2013-01-28T22:06:48","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.vfxpdx.com\/?p=852"},"modified":"2013-01-29T06:53:36","modified_gmt":"2013-01-29T06:53:36","slug":"grimm-future-looks-bright","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.vfxpdx.com\/?p=852","title":{"rendered":"Grimm Future Looks Bright"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Fxguide has a nice rundown of some of our local VFX work for Grimm, featuring <a href=\"http:\/\/hive-fx.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Hive-FX<\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/bentimagelab.com\" target=\"_blank\">Bent Image Lab<\/a>.\u00a0 Much of the Bent breakdowns you see in the article were the basis of Fred Ruff&#8217;s <a href=\"http:\/\/www.vfxpdx.com\/?p=24\" target=\"_blank\">VFX\/PDX presentation<\/a> last year, which also made the rounds both internationally and at Siggraph.\u00a0 Check out the fxguide article <a href=\"http:\/\/www.fxguide.com\/featured\/grimm-creature-case-studies\/\" target=\"_blank\">here<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Definitely worth a look &#8211; this is the sort of bread &amp; butter work that&#8217;s keeping the Portland VFX machine humming!\u00a0 Be sure to check out the respective Grimm reels for both <a href=\"http:\/\/bentimagelab.com\/mobile\/projects\/grimm-behind-the-scenes\/\" target=\"_blank\">Bent<\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/hive-fx.com\/#GRIMM REEL\" target=\"_blank\">Hive-FX<\/a>, and the Oregon film intern promo piece that featured <a href=\"http:\/\/oregonconfluence.com\/2012\/10\/03\/oregon-vendor-spotlight-bent-image-lab-and-hive-fx\/\" target=\"_blank\">both companies<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><center><br \/>\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"http:\/\/player.vimeo.com\/video\/56341902\" frameborder=\"0\" width=\"500\" height=\"281\"><\/iframe><\/center><center><a href=\"http:\/\/vimeo.com\/56341902\">Grimm Behind the Scenes<\/a> from <a href=\"http:\/\/vimeo.com\/bentimagelab\">Bent Image Lab<\/a> on <a href=\"http:\/\/vimeo.com\">Vimeo<\/a>.<\/center><br \/>\nLooking towards the future, it will be interesting to see what the Portland studios are able to do with the creature pipelines refined through this constant flow of Grimm work.\u00a0 There are already rumblings of some indy films and other projects in the works, no doubt in part being leveraged against the flashy Grimm CG.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking of some leveraging &#8211; it was sad to hear the last episode of <a href=\"http:\/\/www.tntdrama.com\/series\/leverage\/\" target=\"_blank\">Leverage<\/a> Season 5 is <a href=\"http:\/\/www.examiner.com\/article\/leverage-has-been-cancelled-the-long-goodbye-job-is-the-series-finale\" target=\"_blank\">indeed the series finale<\/a> and there will be <a href=\"http:\/\/www.electricentertainment.com\/news\/a-letter-dean-devlin\/\" target=\"_blank\">no 6th season in the works<\/a>.\u00a0 But cheers to <a href=\"http:\/\/www.electricentertainment.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Dean Devlin<\/a> and crew on that all-important 5th season and syndication!\u00a0 Hopefully Devlin can roll the momentum into possibly finding Leverage a new network home for a 6th season in the future (before being fully immersed in Roland Emmerich&#8217;s <a href=\"http:\/\/www.electricentertainment.com\/news\/dean-devlin-leverage-independence-day-2-bringing-stargate-back-life\/\" target=\"_blank\">Independence Day 2<\/a> and other <a href=\"http:\/\/www.deadline.com\/2013\/01\/tnt-orders-bounty-hunter-drama-pilot-starring-geena-davis-from-dean-devlin\/\" target=\"_blank\">pilot projects<\/a>).\u00a0 There are certainly enough rabid fans out there chomping at the bit for more.\u00a0 <a href=\"http:\/\/www.change.org\/petitions\/tnt-television-network-renew-leverage-for-a-6th-season\" target=\"_blank\">Petitions<\/a>, even!<\/p>\n<p>Either way, Leverage had a good run and is definitely a source of Portland pride!\u00a0 Next time, in addition to our fantastic production crews &#8211;
